Angel was abandoned at a neighbor’s home and after waiting a few days the family finally took the baby to Social Welfare who called Neema to come pick up the baby. Angel is very beautiful and is quite a happy baby. We will be looking for adoptive parents for her as soon as we are positive the family will not return for her. In the meantime she will need sponsors. Sponsorships pay for medical care, 24 hour nannies, petrol, food and formula. Only Tanzanians are paid  a salary to work at Neema. All others are volunteers or have raised their own salary.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
