Tayo

Tayo’s mother asked a student sitting next to her on the dala dala to hold her baby.  Then she got off and ran away but the driver caught her and drove her to the police station.  She would not answer any questions and looked blank.  We kept telling her we would help her if she and the baby both would come to Neema Village.  She would not come and did not even ask where and what Neema Village was.  This poor mom has been so traumatized we were just at a loss of how to help her.  She had bruises on her back.  Ashley got to name the baby Tayo which means little boy of God.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
