This tiny baby girl was abandoned on the street and brought to the hospital in Arusha, Tanzania, just after her birth. She weighed about five pounds and was just a few days old when she was brought home to Neema. She is perfect, with a tiny face and huge eyes. She sleeps and eats and we have to wake her up to eat.


Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
