Peter Paul Fortson

On March 22, this beautiful, little boy, estimated to be about 12 months old, was found on the street in Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa. He was taken to the police station and then to the hospital when Neema Baby Home was then called to come pick him up. He cried for his mother for the first few days but has now settled in at Neema. It is very sad for these older babies who are abandoned because they remember the parent and whether good or bad will miss and cry for them. With the love and gentle care of the Neema nannies Peter adjusted quickly.

Update: This baby’s mother was found and the baby has been returned to her care. The police found that the father had abandoned the baby without the mother’s knowledge.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
