Pascal Charels Mjanja

This little 4 pound baby lost his mother during childbirth. Mothers die at alarming rates in Africa and without proper medical care, sterile procedures, clean water, expensive formula or electricity many of these babies without mothers will not survive. Pascal stayed at the hospital for a month until he was big enough to come home to Neema. It cost Neema House Arusha around $300 to keep a baby. That pays for 24/7 care for 32 full time employees (only Tanzanians are paid at Neema, all others work as volunteers or have their own support).

And it pays for food, formula, utilities, rent, petrol and medical care. We need your help. There have been 76 babies cared for at Neema and many of them never had a single sponsor.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
