Lekumo

It looks like we made it to Matale village just in time.  We were doing a food drop when we found this little guy who was so malnourished we were not sure he would survive.  His stomach was very hard and distended and his arms and legs were very thin like sticks.  Lekumo is four years old and weighs about what a small two year old would weigh.  We brought him and his mother to town and put Lekumo in the hospital.  After mom puts on some weight she will return to the village but will leave Lekumo with us because he is very ill.  He is recovering now but still has a long way to go.  He is living at the Hallelujah house and dearly loves Bible class and eating.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
