This sweet little girl was born on October 28, 2025 at approximately 6 o’clock in the morning. Two women happened to be walking by on the dirt road shortly after it had rained, when they heard a baby crying in the ditch. They quickly walked over to find both the mother and the very-recently-born baby girl in the ditch, cold and a little wet from the recent rain. Thankfully, they were able to quickly get both mom and baby to a nearby maternity clinic. There, they both had a full assessment. The baby girl is healthy. Unfortunately the mother seems to be struggling from some severe mental disabilities. She is unable to safely care for herself or a child. Social welfare at the clinic was unable to find any family members to take the baby. Therefore, they called Neema Village to help. We were able to immediately pick up the baby girl and bring her to Neema. The mother was agreeable to let her daughter get help. Born in a ditch in the morning and falling asleep full, clean, and being rocked by a nanny by night. This baby is loved. Social welfare is continuing to look for family, and in the meantime, sweet baby Janelle will be here at Neema.
