Happy

15 day old Happy came to Neema Village this afternoon. Her mother was a teacher but lost her job due to alcohism and became destitute. She was leaving Happy alone for days at a time. We are in love with this little sweetheart! She is very tiny but our awesome nannies, like Mwajuma, will fatten her up right away. Her mother has been admitted to a treatment program. We hope to reunite Happy with her mother in the future when she is able to care for her.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
