Bettyann

Baby Bettyann was brought to Neema by her father and grandmother.  They are Maasai and Bettyann is a tiny preemie weighing 2 kg.  It would be very hard for such a tiny baby to survive out in the village without a mother.  Her mother died a few days after birth from Eclampsia.  Neema is working hard to help save these mothers who die in childbirth.  Each month we bring in to Neema Village 12 women who deliver babies out in remote villages.  First we teach them to try to bring the mothers in to the hospital.  But many times it is so far over very rough paths that women die on the way.  They prefer to birth at home.  The women receive training on the five things that kill most women out in the villages; Eclampsia, poor nutrition, shoulder dystosia, retained placenta and FGM .

Little Bettyann will return home when she is bigger and able to return home.  For now please consider sponsoring this little one while she lives at Neema.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
