A new baby came to Neema Village today.  He was born April 4th, 2021 and weighs 3.2 kg now.  His mother has many mental problems and possibly epilepsy, she has no idea how to take care of a baby or how to feed the baby.  The grandmother contacted Social Welfare who picked up the baby and brought him to Neema Village.   We will keep him safe until a family can be found to keep him.  We have many babies without sponsors right now.  It is expensive to keep a baby, about $300 USD per month.  That pays for nannies around the clock, formula, food, utilities, petrol, guards, drivers, cooks and medical expenses.  It does not pay for buildings, volunteers, land purchases or non Tanzanian directors.  We audit every year in the US and Tanzania and you are welcome to drop in to the office for a visit.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
