Rehema

Rehema

Rehema is a 22 year old mother with a young child. She was sent far from her home to Arusha to work as a house girl, but while working there she got pregnant. Her boss did not approve of the pregnancy, so she was fired. Soon the boss also moved to a new city, leaving Rehema with nowhere to go and knowing nobody. So she began living on the streets. When she approached the baby’s father he denied that the child was his and refused to help her. She was able to find a group of young girls who all lived together and shared rent. But soon, many of the girls decided to move to a new city, leaving her all alone to pay all the rent. After finding her in this situation, she was quickly enrolled and began a vegetable stand business. She is now doing well and is able to care for herself and her baby.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
