Naomi
NAOMI’S STORY {MAMA CAREEN)
Naomi is 20yrs old, a mother of 15 months old daughter named Careen. Both her parents are still alive but very poor and live in a Maasai village. She is the fourth child among six children. She went to school to form four (12th grade), she passed her exams to go to college, but her parents could not pay for her school fees.
While at home after completing form four she became pregnant, she told the man responsible, but he denied the pregnancy and said it was not his. She stayed with her parents in the village until she delivered her child. When she was due, she did not make it to the hospital because the hospitals are very far, so she had to deliver her baby at home with the help of traditional midwives. She was fine after delivering her baby but after three days she felt sick and they rushed her to the hospital where they were told she had low blood and gave her blood transfusion, she stayed at the hospital for a week and then returned home.
But her condition worsened, she was coughing a lot. They took her to the hospital but all the medication she was given did not work, they tried taking her to church for prayers. While she was attending prayers at church one day a Pastor from Arusha town visited their church and he saw her condition and he volunteered to bring her to town for further medical checkups and treatment.
When he brought her to town, the medical expenses were too high for him to cover by himself, the Pastor happened to know Neema Village and all the programs we offer, so he asked Neema Village for help. Naomi was brought to Neema and was taken to different hospitals, finally after several tests the Doctors found out that she had Tuberculosis (TB).
She could not stay at the MAP Apartments because of her condition to keep other Mamas safe. She stayed with the Pastor and his family for six months until her condition improved, she then went back to the hospital for X-Rays, and they found out that she was doing great. Neema Village then brought Name and her daughter back to the MAP Apartments on Neema campus where she is staying with other MAP Mamas. She has been in the MAP Apartment for 3-months now.
She is attending English Classes, and counselling classes at Neema. She is looking forward to opening a small DUKA (store) where she will be selling home staples because it’s a good business in her Maasai village as the items she will be selling are not easily accessible in her village.
Another life full of Hope now at Neema Village! Thank you to all of you who support this incredible work of God.
