Judith
JUDITH
Judith is 20 years old, and mother of a one year-old girl. Judith came to Neema through social welfare. She had given birth to a baby with a cleft palate, and the father denied the baby after he saw the situation of the baby.
She went to the social welfare offices to seek help for her daughter’s treatment. She was then directed to a hospital which does surgeries like cleft palates for free.
Because the baby was unable to nurse, the social workers asked Neema Village to help her with the baby’s formula until her baby recovers. Later we realized she needed more than the formula due to her family’s situation. Her mother is supporting her own five children by washing other people’s clothes which is not enough for such a big family. Judith’s mother has kid’s going to school with torn clothes because she could not afford to buy school uniforms. The mother and all five children live in one room.
We decided to put Judith in the MAP Program where she gets money for food every month.
Judith still needs much guidance, because of this we decided to put her mother in a business that she and Judith will work together.
