Glory

Glory

When Glory found out she was pregnant with her first baby and told the father he ran away, abandoning her and never returning. Scared and alone she tried to return to her childhood home to her mother for help. After Glory’s father passed away her mother had remarried and her step-father wanted nothing to do with her or the baby to come. But her mother refused to abandon Glory in her time of need, choosing her daughter over her new husband. The mother and Glory fled to Arusha and rented a small room when the baby was born. Glory’s mother was helping Glory any way she could while she recovered after delivery, making money by helping a farmer in exchange for some vegetables to resell. We found these two women and a tiny baby living in a small room with no bed, sleeping on rags piled on the floor. Glory expressed an interest in a used clothes business and is now selling clothes near her neighborhood.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
