Flora

Flora:

Flora had been living on the street with her two young children for nearly two years when we found her. Her life when she came to us had been one difficult event after another. She was once happily married with a young boy and baby girl until her husband died and his parents tried to take the children from her. Unwilling to leave her babies behind, she took them and ran, leaving the life she knew. She found work when she could, begged on the streets for a place to stay, and was wronged and taken advantage of more than once along the way. We heard about Flora from some women in the local market who banded together on her behalf after seeing her and her small children sleeping on the sidewalks near their stands with everything they owned in a small grocery bag. The women scraped together enough money to rent her a small, mud room and got her in touch with Anna. We are now thrilled to see the progress this amazing woman is making in such a short time. It is amazing what hope can do!

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
