Faustina

Faustina is 34 years old with four children, the youngest is just one month old.  On one of Neema’s Sunday trips to the local hospitals to bless new moms they saw a new mom crying and asked what was the matter.  She said her husband had not wanted any more children and said he would take a knife to her belly if she had more babies.  (I’m trying to keep from getting furious as I write this!)

Faustina’s mother was scared for her daughter and wanted her to move back home.  The mother is a widow and lives in a one room house with 5 people sleeping in one bed.  She works in neighbors fields to have money and some nights they go to bed without eating.

Our Neema map director, Anna, went with some volunteers to their house to see the situation and it was heartbreaking. We decided to put her in the Map Program and are planning to put a roof for the whole house so they can have enough room. Faustina says she is planning to go back to doing her food business in the market when she recovers and she will keep staying with her mother who will help her look after her baby while she is working at the market.

Neema will help her start over in her business.

We must work harder and do more men’s programs so these men can learn how this baby business all works!
