Elidaima – Successfully Completed

Elidaima’s husband left one morning and never returned.  For seven years Elidaima has not known if he was alive or dead. She and her 3 sons became homeless and were begging for help when she knocked on the door of a kind woman who let her stay in one of the small rooms in her home.  She has been asking neighbors to let her wash their clothes to have money to feed the boys but she says there are many days that the boys go to school and then to bed without eating for the day.  Elidaima was very tired and ready to give up on life when she heard of Neema Village.  We went to her home to visit and were shocked at how little she had.  There was one small foam mattress on the floor where the 3 boys slept.  Mother slept on rags.  After visiting with her we decided she could do a milk cow business.  With the help of Neema staff a good milk cow was located and purchased for her.   The cow is pregnant and producing 12 liters of milk per day.  The cow cost $700 USD.

Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.
