Neema Means Grace
A Baby Home for abandoned orphaned and at-risk babies, a Mothering Center for abandoned and abused women, a MAP (Mothers Against Poverty) program setting women up in small businesses, a free Rehabilitation Center for special needs babies, Safe Birthing Training for Traditional Maasai Birthers, drilling water wells, a community soccer field, GIFT Girls Informed For Tomorrow, and Opportunities to Serve and share Christian Faith of Volunteers. Because Jesus cared, we care.
Neema Village Tanzania, Inc, is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit in the USA operating in Tanzania East Africa under the guidance of a fifteen member board of Christian men and women who try their best to follow the life of Jesus in service and caring for the lost and hurting of Africa. Neema in Swahili means Grace and any good done has been done by the Abundant Grace of God!
Neema Village began as a rescue center for abandoned, orphaned and at risk babies in Arusha, Tanzania. During that time, hundreds of babies have been rescued, many abandoned babies have now been adopted through the Tanzania Social Welfare system and other babies who had lost their mothers during the birth were saved and have now been able to return home to an extended family member. It has always been our motto that “No baby belongs in an orphanage.” We love the idea of “Families not Orphanages.”
Always waiting on God’s provision and as needs arise, Neema Village has expanded into many different programs.
Our mission statement:
- Rescuing abandoned, orphaned, and at-risk babies through the love of Jesus
- Reuniting children with extended families and promoting in-country adoptions
- Restoring hope to women through education, business opportunities, parenting skills, day care assistance, and spiritual guidance
- Reducing maternal deaths through Save The Mothers program.
- Revitalizing community through water wells, soccer and Bible classes for youth
